Dr. Bill Moskowitz is Professor of Pediatrics and Chief, Division of Pediatric Cardiology at UMMC. Prior to arriving 1 year ago, he was Chief of Pediatric Cardiology, Director of Cardiac Catheterization and Vice Chair for Clinical Operations at Children’s Hospital at VCU. His past research focused on childhood passive smoking effects on coronary risks which was cited in the Surgeon General's Report and the EPA Report on Respiratory Health Effects of Passive Smoking. He worked to design a cardiac assist device as a bridge for the failing Fontan patient. As the physician leader of the obesity work group, he created a reliable informatics infrastructure to support the consistent utilization of identified best practices and improve the ability to conduct quality assurance and research initiatives related to prevention/assessment and treatment of pediatric overweight and obesity within VCUHS. He is a past President of the Virginia AAP. Nationally, he served on the Committee on Federal Government Affairs and is the immediate past Chair of the Committee on Pediatric Workforce. He is an elected member of the American Pediatric Society. Through the World Pediatric Project he established with the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines the National Program for the Prevention and Control of Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease. He received the 2016 Medical College of Virginia Physicians Distinguished Clinician Award and the 2019 Distinguished Physician Alumnus Award from USF Health Morsani College of Medicine Alumni Society.
