PGY-1 Pharmacy

The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency is a 12-month postgraduate ASHP-accredited program that provides a structured, directed, and professional learning experience. The program has been accredited since 1984 and build on previous education and experience. It is directed toward developing a generalist expert knowledge and skills in pharmacotherapy management. Patient care services include patient education, drug information, and direct patient care activities. The program structure allows for a focused approach if you have an interest in a certain area of practice.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center includes a tertiary care hospital near downtown Jackson and serves the entire state of Mississippi as the largest diagnostic, treatment, and referral care system in the state. UMMC offers the only Level I trauma center, the only Level IV neonatal intensive care nursery, and the only organ transplant programs in the state, in addition to Children's of Mississippi, Mississippi's only hospital solely dedicated to caring for children. It is the only teaching hospital in the state and boasts a dedicated ICU tower.
