Biography: Chad Washington, M.S., M.D., M.P.H.S., Chair of UMMC Neurosurgery and Chief Perioperative Executive, is a board-certified neurosurgeon subspecializing in both open and endovascular neurosurgery. A native of Pontotoc, MS, Dr. Washington received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and completed his neurosurgical residency at Washington University in St. Louis. During his residency, he earned a master’s degree in population health sciences and completed an international fellowship at the National Neurosurgical Centre in Dublin, Ireland. Following residency, he gained further expertise in cerebrovascular disease while completing a fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University. He leads several ongoing clinical trials and research studies at UMMC focusing on stroke treatment, recovery and prevention. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys.
