Biography: Dr. Sheree Melton is a New Orleans native who graduated from Tougaloo College in 2003. After graduation from college, Dr. Melton went on to attend Brown Medical School in Providence, Rhode Island. She completed her family medicine residency at UMMC in the Department of Family Medicine in 2010. Since 2010, Dr. Melton has been practicing in the Jackson metro area. In 2017, Dr. Melton decided to return to her roots at UMMC and become faculty in the Department of Family Medicine. Since being at UMMC, Dr. Melton has become Director of Student Programs, core faculty at for the residency program, and continues to see her own panel of patients at the Lakeland family medicine clinic. Dr. Melton is board certified in family medicine, a member of the Society of Teacher's of Family Medicine, and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
My Approach to Healthcare
My approach to healthcare is one that is inclusive, holistic, and evidenced-based. I recognize that a lot of medical conditions have sociological or economic factors that play a role in a patient's health. It is my desire to treat the WHOLE patient as I feel this is the most successful way to get them to their desired health goals.
