Domino, Maria Paula, M.D.
Specialties: Urology Surgery
Gender: Female
Biography: Dr. Domino was born in Cordoba Argentina. Dreams of living in the United States started with her first English class at the age of eight and were realized shortly after graduating high school, with her move to Huntington, NY. Her mother’s high school friend and the love of Latin dance quickly overcame the complications of not knowing anyone in the United States. After settling in New York, meeting her soulmate and later moving to Florida, it gave way to her desire for a more meaningful purpose. Community service led to an undergraduate degree in BioMedical Science from the University of South Florida and the King O’Neal Scholar award for graduating with a perfect 4.0. Medical school at Florida State University College of Medicine was an opportunity to express the patient-centered philosophies which had driven her to medicine and would compel her class to overwhelmingly vote her into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. However, her next goal was acceptance to the top ranked Urology Residency Program at the University of Florida and a then unknown fellowship. Subspecializing for some is a difficult choice but not for Dr. Domino. Her choice of a fellowship in Voiding Dysfunction and Pelvic Reconstruction at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York was a journey from her first urology encounter as a medical student with a patient whose quality of life had been decimated by urinary incontinence and Dr. Domino’s desire to improve the quality of life of those she has the privilege of treating.
My Approach to Healthcare
Dr. Domino is committed to providing excellent patient-centered care. Raised in a third world country, she understands the obstacles to healthcare some may have. Her philosophy is based on treating the patient and not a disease or condition in isolation, with the patient goals always at the forefront of decision making. When she is not at the hospital, Dr. Domino enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, playing tennis and traveling.
