Biography: Dr. Ashley Canizaro, a native of Mississippi, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist. After receiving her undergraduate degree in biological engineering from Mississippi State University, she earned her medical degree from UMMC. Dr. Canizaro received her postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology at UMMC from 2007-11, serving as administrative chief resident during 2010-11. Immediately following, she joined in private practice at Southern Women's Health in Flowood, MS. In 2021, after 9 years in private practice, Dr. Canizaro returned to UMMC to better serve her fellow Mississippians.
My Approach to Healthcare
I believe in the approach of teaching patients, advocating for their power to improve their health and wellness. Being an ob-gyn is not just about reproductive care. It is overall wellness, learning to balance both physical and mental health, nutrition, physical activity, relationship, purpose, and beliefs. I desire to meet each patient where they are in life and treat the whole person.
