Biography

Dr. Casey Boothe earned her PhD in Clinical Anatomy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Advanced Biomedical Education. In this role, she plays an integral part in the education of medical, dental, and graduate students, specifically in the areas of gross anatomy and histology. She serves as course director for several courses in the SOM and the histology course in the SGSHS; in addition, she is a guest lecturer in several courses in the SOM, SOD, and SGSHS.
She also serves as the Program Director for the MS-BMS program offered through the SGSHS, and in this role she advises Master’s students. She is a pre-clinical advisor for medical students. In addition to advisory roles, she serves as a research mentor for graduate and medical students with a specific focus on educational research. Her research primarily focuses on student learning strategies and the implementation of novel teaching approaches. She has presented her work at local and national conferences.
Dr. Boothe serves on a variety of committees in several schools on UMMC’s campus, as she is committed to supporting and improving education at the medical center.
