Biography
Dr. Jhaveri is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Medical Microbiology. After earning his medical degree from Seth G.S. Medical College in India, he completed Internal Medicine residency at Lahey Hospital in Massachusetts, followed by fellowships in Infectious Diseases at Tufts Medical Center and Medical Microbiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Jhaveri is nationally recognized for his expertise in diagnostic stewardship and mycobacterial infections. He has co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals such as Nature Communications and PLOS Medicine, and serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals. He is an elected Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
At UMMC, Dr. Jhaveri is among the most clinically active and productive faculty members in the department. He serves on key institutional committees, directs the Travel Medicine clinic, and is a site investigator for multicenter studies on mycobacterial infections, fungal infections, and antimicrobial resistance. He is actively engaged in clinical teaching, and mentors trainees in scholarly work. His approach integrates clinical acumen with microbiological insight, providing a model of interdisciplinary excellence in infectious diseases.
