Biography
James Hamilton IV, MD, is board certified in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. A native of Long Beach, MS, he was a Carrier Scholar at the University of Mississippi, where he graduated with a degree in chemical engineering before entering medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical School. Following an internal medicine residency and a chief resident year at UMC, he completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship at UMC. He then moved to Indianapolis, IN, with his wife and three children to complete a 2-year clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the Krannert Institute of Cardiology in Indianapolis. He returned to Mississippi following EP fellowship, working in private practice for three years before becoming the chief of the EP section at UMC. He has special interest in advanced ablation techniques and treatments for atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, Watchman left atrial appendage closure device insertion, and leadless pacemaker insertion. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys relaxing and travelling with his wife, three children, and two dogs as well as camping and fishing.
