Dr. Paula Domino, a urologic surgeon who specializes in helping restore function for patients with urinary and pelvic challenges, has joined the University of Mississippi Medical Center. As well as other duties, she will work with the UMMC Cancer Center and Research Institute Interdisciplinary Genitourinary Cancer team.

Domino, an assistant professor, comes to UMMC from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York where she completed a fellowship in voiding dysfunction and pelvic reconstruction.

She also completed a residency in urology at the University of Florida, received her medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine and her bachelor’s in biomedical sciences from the University of South Florida.

A native of Argentina, Domino moved to the United States as a teenager to pursue her dreams of becoming a surgeon.  Her practice centers on the patient not the disease or condition in isolation with an emphasis on helping each patient achieve a better quality of life.

“I am excited to be able to add my specialty to the already talented group of surgeons at UMMC and I look forward to the opportunities and challenges that come with bringing a new subspecialty to an outstanding medical center like UMMC,” she said.

“My goal is that the addition of my reconstruction in urology specialty will aid the urology related surgical outcomes and improve the quality of life for our patients.”

Dr. Charles Pound, chief of the UMMC Division of Urology, said Domino has become an integral part of the team.

“Her enthusiasm is infectious and our patients will benefit greatly from her judgement and skills as a reconstructive urologic surgeon.”
