Office of Student Affairs

The mission of the Office of Student Affairs is to promote success and well-being by providing student-centered programming and services that facilitate the academic, personal, and professional growth of all students.

The Office of Student Affairs manages the Norman C. Nelson Student Union, which includes the student Fitness Center and Gymnasium, Student Recreation Area, Bookstore, and additional lounge and meeting spaces. The office directs the UMMC Honors College, academic support programs and resources, interprofessional education opportunities, and extracurricular events and activities.

The School of Medicine class of 2029 receives an overview of their academic year during orientation in August. The entering class numbers 170, with total medical school enrollment recorded at 657 students.

For many reasons, the Medical Center’s education mission continues to thrive, especially if newly-released fall enrollment numbers are a guide. Most campus schools recorded a rise, with the venerable School of Nursing edging ever closer to the 1,000-student mark, and the youthful School of Population registering the greatest rate of growth.
