Application Process
Applicant materials are only accepted via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). ERAS applications must include:
- Medical school transcripts
- Official USMLE and/or COMLEX score reports
- No fewer than three letters of recommendation
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) or Dean’s letter (released to programs automatically on October 1)
- Curriculum Vitae
- Personal statement
- Current photograph

We accept and review applications from medical school graduates from all accredited medical schools.
What about Visas?
UMMC sponsors J-1 Visa for successful candidates.
What are the criteria for candidate selection?
All applicants are evaluated based on their CV, USMLE scores, MSPE, personal statement, and Letters of recommendation.
Does UMMC offer internship/PGY1 positions?
UMMC offers a joint PGY-1 position with the Department of Internal Medicine. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply separately to both programs. Alternatively, candidates may complete their preliminary year in internal medicine, family practice, OB-GYN, surgery, or surgical specialties, or pediatrics in any ACGME-accredited training program of their choice.
