Vice Chair's Welcome

Robert Annett.jpgWelcome to the Pediatric Research Division website!

UMMC’s Department of Pediatrics has increased research capacity considerably in the past several years. We are committed to bettering child health through research and innovation. This website is our effort to develop a user-friendly resource that our departmental researchers can access and use to help with all manners of research at UMMC, ranging from basic research to human subject’s research.

In our current form, the Pediatric Research Division is equipped to support departmental researchers who are new as well as established. From developing ideas and budgets for new submissions to close out reports, our division is committed to every step in the research process. Considerable improvements have been made in developing the supports that pediatric investigators need for the design, conduct and analysis activities for your projects. We are a service center that seeks to develop the skills needed for successful intramural and extramural research activities.

Our team is available to help you with all components of your project. The website resources are a first step in this process. We are also available to directly assist you in all aspects of pediatric research at our offices in the Translational Research Building.

Pediatric research at UMMC is an investment in making researchers successful. The Pediatric Discovery Council is one of the elements that is supporting our research efforts, specifically with offering intramural funding (2 cycles per year; February and August) and directing faculty to research mentors. Our other activities include:
  • Budget development for grants
  • Protocol and grant writing
  • Biostatistical and methodological development
  • Grant managment
  • Events (e.g., Pediatric Research Day)

As you examine this website, please feel free to provide us with your feedback. Our expectation is that this resource will evolve with time and with your valuable insight!
