| Collection Information: | Patient must be > 48 hours old. To schedule a Sweat Test, call Pediatric Pulmonary Function Department, (601) 984-5205. | ||
| Transport Information: | Deliver to lab immediately. All specimens must be signed into the laboratory. | ||
| Reference Clients: | If unable to deliver to the lab immediately, store and transport gauze in vial with tight fitting cap at 2-8° C within 72 hours. | ||
| Causes for Rejection: | Improperly labeled, incorrect container, contaminated, insufficient quantity, incorrect/delay in transport. | ||
| Reference Range: | 0 - 5 months: < 30 mEq/L | ||
| > 6 months: < 40 mEq/L | |||
| Additional Information: | Avoid touching inner surfaces of collection flask and lid with hands or improperly cleaned instruments. Avoid touching gauze for sample collection with hands or improperly cleaned instruments. | ||
