| Collection Information: | Refer to Microbiology Collection Information by Source. Walnut size specimen is sufficient. | ||
| Transport Information: | Deliver to lab immediately at room temperature. All specimens must be signed into the laboratory. | ||
| Reference Client: | If unable to deliver to lab immediately, store and transport at 2-8° C. Original specimen must be received in lab within 24 hours. If sample is sent on test card, it can be stored and transported at room temperature up to 5 days. | ||
| Causes for Rejection: | Improperly labeled, incorrect container, contaminated, insufficient quantity, improper/delay in transport. | ||

| Additional Information: | Patient should not receive Vitamin C/Ascorbic acid for 3 days prior to testing. When occult GI bleeding is suspected at least three samples, preferably from separate bowel movements, should be submitted. | ||
