M1 (First-Year) Curriculum

Dr. Thais Tonore co-directs the core concepts schedule with Dr. David Brown.

Included in this are: "Knowledge for White Coat Wearers" - basic knowledge of advice and over the counter medications to treat common complaints. We also have a "What Lies Beneath?" series to connect gross anatomy dissection with clinical exams. Professionalism, cultural sensitivity and clinical correlations are also part of the first year curriculum.

Primary Care Scholars Program

The Primary Care Scholars Program is designed to provide medical students with longitudinal exposure to the practice of family medicine. The student works under the supervision of a mentoring family practice physician.

Participation in this elective introduces the student to the art of family medicine and the unique role of the family physician in the clinical and community aspects of patient care. The student will gain an understanding of the correlation between basic sciences and clinical practice.
