Early Decision Program
Students interested in early acceptance may apply for admission under the Early Decision Program (EDP). Two important aspects of the EDP should be understood:
- EDP applicants can only apply to one school of choice until a decision is received and, if accepted, must attend that school
- If not accepted under the EDP, an applicant may automatically be reconsidered as an Regular Decision Program (RDP) applicant by that school and then may apply to other medical schools.
Since EDP decisions are rendered before most RDP applications are reviewed, only above-average applicants are competitive for the EDP. Only students with an undergraduate BCPM GPA of at least 3.6 with an overall GPA of at least 3.7 and a MCAT of 504 or higher will be considered for the EDP.
Students who have completed more than 20 hours of graduate BCPM coursework with a graduate BCPM of at least 3.60 and a MCAT of 504 or higher may also apply for the EDP.
Both AMCAS and UMMC require receipt of specific documents by specified deadlines (click here for details). Applicants wishing to apply for the EDP must submit an online AMCAS application and transcripts of all undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and any graduate coursework to AAMC between June 1st and August 1st.
EDP applicants must release MCAT scores and upload a passport-style photograph through the WebAdmitApplicant Portal by August 1st. EDP applicants must also submit the following by August 15th: their online Secondary Application through the Applicant Portal; transcripts of all undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and any graduate coursework to UMMC's Office of Enrollment Management; and three faculty letters of evaluation.
A final decision on EDP applications will be rendered on or before October 1st.
