Celebrating 5 Years of the Mosaic Summer Enrichment Program

Five years ago, a crucial question set a new mission in motion at the University of Mississippi Medical Center: How do we recruit students from rural backgrounds into heath care careers? Born out of the HRSA-funded IMPACT the RACE initiative, the Mosaic Summer Enrichment Program was created to bridge the gap between Mississippi high schoolers from rural areas and health care careers. Exploring Health Care Pathways Inspires Mississippi’s Future Health Professionals

The University of Mississippi School of Medicine welcomed 191 high school juniors and seniors from across Mississippi for the Exploring Health Care Pathways event on Saturday, August 22. Students traveled from as far south as D’Iberville on the Gulf Coast and Tupelo in north Mississippi, as well as from high schools throughout the Jackson metropolitan area. Non-Involvement of Providers of Student Health Services in Student Assessment

The health professionals who provide health services, including psychiatric/psychological counseling, to a medical student have no involvement in the academic assessment or promotion of the medical student receiving those services.
