
New faculty join UMMC academic ranks

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Marylin Fouche

Dr. Marylin Fouche, recently a staff anesthesiologist with Jackson Anesthesia Associates in Jackson, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of anesthesiology in the School of Medicine.
Board-certified in anesthesiology, Fouche graduated in 2010 from the School of Medicine at UMMC, where she completed her residency in anesthesiology.
Her skills include general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, obstetrical anesthesia and pediatric outpatient anesthesia. Fouche, who has research experience, has been published in the Journal of Peptide Science.
She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Mississippi Society of Anesthesiologists and Mississippi State Medical Association.

Dr. Priyanka Kharayat

Dr. Priyanka Kharayat, who recently completed a pediatric critical medicine fellowship at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics-critical care in the School of Medicine.
Board-certified in general pediatrics, Kharayat earned her medical degree from Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College in Meerut, India. She then completed her internship and junior residency at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, India. She then worked as a house officer in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, followed by the Department of Internal Medicine and Hematology-Oncology at BL Kapoor Hospital in New Delhi.
After that, she completed her Simulation Research Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, followed by a pediatric residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.
She is the co-author of several peer-reviewed research manuscripts and a variety of scientific abstracts, and has contributed to other scholarly publications.

Dr. Ayana Red

Dr. Ayana Red, recently a family nurse practitioner with MDB Health Services in Flowood, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of nursing instruction in the School of Nursing.
A board-certified FNP, Red earned a BSN at Mississippi College and an MSN at Alcorn State University before receiving her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2019 from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Before earning her DNP, she worked in Jackson as a registered nurse at River Regional Hospital, Amedisys Home Health and Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. As an FNP with a comprehensive background in primary care and geriatrics, she worked at Minor Med Care and Oak Street Health before joining MDB.
Red, who has experience in clinical scholarship and research, has been published in the Journal of Gerontological Nursing.
