
New faculty join UMMC academic ranks

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Tanya W. Moseley

Dr. Tanya W. Moseley, recently a professor in the Department of Breast Imaging, Division of Diagnostic Imaging, and the Department of Breast Surgical Oncology, Division of Surgery, at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, has joined the Medical Center faculty as a professor of radiology in the School of Medicine.
Moseley, a Mississippi native from Columbia, earned her medical degree at the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1994. She completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota, where she also completed a clinical fellowship in mammography and thoracic imaging. She has earned multiple certifications and fellowships in health care management and project management.
Board-certified in radiology, Moseley has held academic appointments and served as a consultant for prestigious institutions, including the UT Health Houston McGovern Medical School, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, University of Houston College of Medicine and Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.
Her leadership experience is extensive and spans numerous institutions, including MD Anderson Cancer Center, Mayo Health Systems facilities in Minnesota, the American Association for Women Radiologists and the American Board of Radiology. She has also served in leadership roles with the Radiological Society of North America and the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, among others.
Throughout her career, Moseley has distinguished herself by earning numerous academic, research and teaching awards. Her scholarly work includes more than 70 peer-reviewed research articles, multiple teaching publications and manuals, two dozen abstracts and six book chapters. She has also served as an editor and author.
Moseley has served on editorial boards for several professional journals and has an extensive record of teaching activities, including prestigious lectureships and visiting professorships. Her professional memberships and activities reflect her broad engagement in the field of radiology.

Brett Elicia Quon

Brett Elicia Quon, recently lead dental hygienist at Colony Dental in Madison, has joined the Medical Center faculty as instructor of dental hygiene in the School of Dentistry.
A registered dental hygienist, Quon, who received her Associate of Applied Science in the Dental Assisting Program at Hinds Community College in Jackson, earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene at the UMMC School of Dentistry in 2020.
Before earning her BS, she worked for more than five years as a surgical assistant for a dental practice.
Her list of academic honors includes the Dental Hygienist Award from the Alliance of the Mississippi Dental Association.
As a dental professional, Quon has devoted several years to community service, including missionary work in the country of Belize.

Dr. Melanie N. Truong-Le

Dr. Melanie N. Truong-Le, recently an assistant professor of ophthalmology and neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an associate professor of ophthalmology in the School of Medicine.
At UT Southwestern, she had additional appointments at Parkland Medical Hospital and at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and at John Peter Smith Hospital in Forth Worth, Texas.
After earning her Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2000, she established and ran her own private optometry practice for over a decade. During this time, she provided patient care while successfully managing her business.
Driven by a passion for medicine and inspired by a family member’s illness, she returned to school and earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2014 from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. She then completed her neurology residency at UT Southwestern, where she was chief resident in her final year.
To further specialize, she pursued a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship at the University of Iowa, focusing on afferent visual dysfunction. She continued her training with a second fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, concentrating on efferent visual dysfunction.
In 2020, She returned to UT Southwestern, where she created and became the program director of the medical neuro-ophthalmology fellowship. Her list of mentorship and preceptorship roles is extensive.
She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Academy of Ophthalmology and North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. She is a contributing member of the NANOS Novel Education Committee, is the chair of the Social Media section of NOVEL, and most recently has taken on the lead editorship of the NANOS Illustrated curriculum (Section A: Anatomy and Physiology for the Neuro-Ophthalmologist).
Truong-Le has earned a number of academic and clinical excellence awards and honors throughout her career. She is credited with a variety of conference podium presentations and virtual conference invited talks, along with several published manuscripts, books, textbook reviews, chapters, monographs and editorials. She has participated in an array of poster presentations at regional and national conferences.
