New faculty join UMMC academic ranks

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Ashish Gummadi
Dr. Ashish Gummadi, recently an assistant professor of clinical medicine, academic hospitalist and director of the Hospital Medicine Consult Service for the University of Cincinnati and University of Cincinnati Physicians Inc., has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine-hospital medicine in the School of Medicine.
He earned his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree in 2008 at Osmania Medical College and General Hospital in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, where he also did an internship before completing his residency in internal medicine at Rochester Regional Health in Rochester, New York. His postgraduate training includes a two-year nephrology fellowship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
His other academic appointments include duty medical officer in the Department of Medicine at Remedy Hospital in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, and emergency medical officer in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad.
Gummadi has several research/abstract publications to his credit. He participated in a number of clinical quality initiatives at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Temple University Hospital. He is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, American College of Physicians, and American Society of Nephrology.
Dr. Dillon Christopher O’Neill
Dr. Dillon Christopher O’Neill, recently an orthopaedic surgery resident at the University of Utah, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, in Salt Lake City, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an instructor of orthopaedic surgery in the School of Medicine.
O’Neill earned his medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine after participating in the pre-medical program of the Harvard University Extension School.
At the University of Utah and at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he participated in a number of research projects related to orthopaedic surgery, surgical critical care, plastic surgery and cardiology.
O’Neill, a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, is the coauthor of two dozen published manuscripts and has made a number of scientific podium and poster presentations. He is the recipient of a variety of academic, research and athletic honors and awards.

Dr. Ramya Krishna Velagapudi
Dr. Ramya Krishna Velagapudi, recently a pathologist affiliated with the University of Cincinnati, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pathology in the School of Medicine.
She earned her Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2010 at the MNR Medical College and Hospital in Sangareddy, Telangana, India. Her postgraduate training includes completion of a fellowship in intensive care medicine at Medvarsity and Apollo Hospitals in India, a Master in Health Administration at LSU Shreveport, a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and a fellowship in renal pathology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
She served as a duty medical officer in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, and as a clinical research assistant at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Velagapudi has participated in more than a dozen abstract/poster presentations. Throughout her career she has taken on a variety of leadership roles and has been recognized for her achievements in academics and research.
She is an ambassador for the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology and is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists, and is a member of other professional organizations.
