New faculty join UMMC academic ranks

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Dr. Kimberly G. Dobbs
Dr. Kimberly G. Dobbs has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pulmonology in the School of Medicine.
She earned her medical degree in 1996 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, where she also completed her internal medicine residency. She then initiated a pulmonary fellowship at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, which she completed at UAB.
Dobbs practiced as a pulmonologist in Laurel for almost 20 years, at Jefferson Medical Associates and subsequently at South Central Clinics. She served as the chair of the Department of Medicine at South Central Regional Medical Center, the medical director of the ICU and chair of the Critical Care Committee.
She was a member of the executive boards of Jefferson Medical Associates and Physicians Technical Solutions; and, at South Central Regional Medical Center, she served on the Medical Executive Committee and as president of the medical staff. Recently, Dobbs was a tuberculosis consultant for District VIII of the Mississippi State Department of Health.
The recipient of several academic and research awards, she is the coauthor of several research publications and has made presentations at regional and national meetings.
Dobbs is a member of the World Association for Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous Disorders, American College of Chest Physicians-Fellow, American Thoracic Society, American Medical Association and Mississippi State Medical Association.
Dr. Jacob Long
Dr. Jacob G. Long, recently a clinical specialist/physical therapist at Methodist Rehabilitation Center in Jackson, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of physical therapy in the School of Health Related Professions.
Long, who received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from SHRP at UMMC in 2013, has also worked as a PRN physical therapist at Therapy Management Corporation in Jackson; staff physical therapist at Therapeutic Destinations via Ardor Health Solutions, a private practice outpatient orthopaedic clinic in Fayetteville, North Carolina; and, in the Jackson area, as a PRN physical therapist at Tara Therapy, a skilled nursing facility therapy department staffing organization.
The recipient of several professional and research honors, he has a number of scientific presentations and invited lectures to his credit.
Long is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association/Mississippi Physical Therapy Association. He is the current vice chair of the Assistive Technology/Seating & Wheeled Mobility (AT/SWM) Special Interest Group of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy, a sub-section of the American Physical Therapy Association.
In addition to his primary role on faculty, he is the current director of the Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program for SHRP.

Dr. Yin Wang
Dr. Yin Wang, recently an assistant teaching professor in the Medical Laboratory Science program at the University of Southern Mississippi, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medical laboratory science in the School of Health Related Professions.
She received her PhD in microbiology and immunology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock in 2009 and her BS in medical technology from UAMS in 2012.
She has also served as a molecular technical specialist in the Department of Pathology at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, molecular pathology specialist in the Department of Pathology at UMMC, and education coordinator in the School of Health Professions at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Wang, who has participated in a number of professional workshops, is a member of the American Association of Bioanalysts and the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. She is board-certified in Clinical laboratory Science and Molecular Biology (ASCP). She is also a certified High Complexity Laboratory Director and Clinical Consultant in Molecular diagnostics (ABB).
