New faculty join UMMC academic ranks

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.

Dr. Naser Mohammedelamien

Dr. Naser Mohammedelamien, recently a resident in preventive medicine at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of preventive medicine in the School of Medicine.

Mohammedelamien also earned a Master of Science in clinical investigation at UMMC and a Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He received, in 1994, a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum, in Sudan.

Mohammedelamien has served as an emergency room physician at Riyadh al Kharj Hospital, al Kharj, Saudi Arabia; family medicine physician at King Fahad National Guard Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and in various other roles.

He is a member of several honorary and professional societies, including the American College of Preventive Medicine Physicians, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, American Medical Informatics Association (fellow), and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.

He is board-certified in public health, and board-eligible in general preventive medicine; lifestyle medicine; and clinical informatics. In 2021, Mohammedelamien became a fellow of the Center for Mississippi Health Policy.

An avid runner, he has participated in several races including a marathon and an ultramarathon in Jackson.

 

Dr. Lisa L. Richey

Dr. Lisa L. Richey, recently an associate dentist at Lakeland Dental Care in Jackson, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of care planning and restorative sciences in the School of Dentistry.

Richey, a Mississippi State University graduate in biochemistry, received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the School of Dentistry at UMMC in 2017.

At Lakeland Dental Care, Richey practiced various aspects of general dentistry, including composite and amalgam restorations, prostheses repair, simple and surgical extractions, fabrication and repair of partial and complete dentures, bonding, whitening and implant placement and restoration.

She is familiar with cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), a scan that captures 3-D images for the evaluation of dental patients, producing better image quality and accuracy regarding oral health.

 

LaTwania Rodgers-Miller

Rodgers-Miller

LaTwania Rodgers-Miller, recently a library technical assistant at Hinds Community College in Utica, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of academic information services.

Rodgers-Miller earned the Master of Science degree in healthcare administration from Belhaven University in Jackson, where she also received a certificate in human resources. At Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, she earned the Master of Science degree in Library & Information Science.

Before joining Hinds Community College, she filled the library technical support II role at Jackson State University, where she had received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology.

Rodgers-Miller is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society and has been a participant in the American College of Healthcare Executives Higher Education Network.

 

Dr. Jamie Alexandria White

Dr. Jamie Alexandria White, recently an oral and maxillofacial pathology resident at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of oral and maxillofacial pathology in the School of Dentistry.

White earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the School of Dentistry at UMMC in 2018 before receiving her certificate in oral and maxillofacial pathology in 2021 from Mount Sinai Hospital.

A fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, she is also a member of the American Dental Association, American Dental Education Association, and Mississippi Dental Society.

White has made several research presentations and is the co-author of a peer-reviewed publication in Head and Neck Pathology.

A diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, she has made numerous invited talks and lecture presentations.
