Nurse educator, computer scientist join Medical Center faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.

Jennifer Marie Kennedy, MSN

Jennifer Marie Kennedy, recently a nurse educator in the Children’s of Mississippi Pediatric Emergency Department and a seasoned nurse with a decade of experience in patient care, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an instructor in undergraduate programs in the School of Nursing.

After receiving her associate’s degree from Jones County Junior College in 2006, Kennedy earned her BS in biology at the University of Southern Mississippi in 2009, her BSN at William Carey University in 2011 and her MSN in the Nurse Educator track at UMMC in 2020.

Kennedy joined the Pediatric Emergency Department at Children’s of Mississippi in 2011 and moved to UMMC’s Medical Intensive Care Unit in 2013. She served as a nurse educator in the Pediatric Emergency Department from 2016-19.

 

Hamidreza Moradi, PhD

Dr. Hamidreza Moradi, who recently obtained his PhD in computer science from the University of Texas at San Antonio, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of data science in the John D. Bower School of Population Health.

After receiving his BS in computer science from Islamic Azad University, Tehran, Iran, in 2010, Moradi served as a co-founder and engineer in an information technology service provider and consultancy company in Tehran from 2010-16. He then came to the U.S. and earned his MS and PhD in computer science at UT-San Antonio while serving the department as a researcher and instructor of record.

The author or co-author of five presentations at international conferences and three poster presentations, Moradi serves as an external reviewer for six professional publications. His research interests include predictive analysis, machine learning, deep learning, performance prediction, big data processing and cloud computing.
