Internal med resident, neurologist join Medical Center faculty
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
William Spence Crews, MD
Dr. William Spence Crews, most recently a resident in the Department of Internal Medicine at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.
After receiving his BS in biological science magna cum laude in 2012 and his MS in biomedical science in 2013 from Mississippi College, Crews earned his MD at UMMC in 2018. He then had residency training in internal medicine at UMMC, obtaining his licensure of internal medicine in 2021.
An inductee into the Alpha Epsilon Delta, Alpha Mu Gamma, Beta Beta Beta, Omicron Delta Kappa and Mortar Board Honor Societies, Crews authored or coauthored six case reports or presentations at scientific meetings and three research and quality improvement projects. Social chairman of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, he has also participated in the Clinician Educator Program, the Problem Based Learning Group and Medicine at the Bedside Program at UMMC.
Zachary-Ross David Goodwin, MD
Dr. Zachary-Ross David Goodwin, a practicing general neurologist, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an instructor in neurology.
After receiving his BS in biology from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, in 2011, Goodwin earned his MD at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 2016. He then had an internal medicine internship from 2017-18 and neurology residency training from 2018-21 at UMMC, where he was named chief resident of neurology in 2020.
Lead investigator of a quality improvement project implementing teleneurology in an academic setting to enhance resident education, Goodwin is the author of a peer-reviewed article, “What’s Hiding in the Hair? An Unusual Case of Ascending Paralysis,” published in the American Academy of Neurology. A member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Neurology, he has given three presentations at scientific meetings at UMMC.
