Breast center director, hospitalist, peds fellow among new faculty hires

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.

Kumari V. Gutti, M.D.

Dr. Kumari V. Gutti, a hospitalist at Greenwood Leflore Hospital with primary care and emergency room experience, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.

After receiving her M.B.B.S. from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, India, in 1980, Gutti served in family practice in India and in general practice in Iran before having internal medicine residency training from 1995-98 at New York Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, where she was chief resident in the Department of Medicine from 1998-99.

Gutti served as an internist, primary care physician and, ultimately, medical director of Medicine Physicians, Inc. of Winona from 2000-11 and was an emergency room physician at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital, Winona, from 2000-02. She was medical director of the Crystal Health and Rehabilitation Nursing Home, Greenwood, from 2009-12 and served as a hospitalist at Greenwood Leflore Hospital from 2008-19. She is an active member of the American College of Physicians.

Pamela Jones, D.H.A.

Dr. Pamela Jones has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of health sciences in the School of Health Related Professions.

She has had a nine-year association with the Medical Center, with her most recent position program director for the Jackson Heart Study Graduate Training and Education Center in the John D. Bower School of Population Health. Before that, she served as a clinical decision support analyst in the Quality Administration-CMO Office and as an administrative assistant III in talent acquisition.

After receiving her B.S. in community health sciences in 2007 and her M.P.H. in 2010 from the University of Southern Mississippi, Jones received her D.H.A. from the School of Health Related Professions in 2018. Her doctoral work focused on strategies to increase HCAHPS scores in academic medical centers.

In her new faculty role, Jones will be working with the Bachelor of Health Sciences Program and the Medical Scribe Specialist Post-baccalaureate Certificate Program. She also serves as adjunct faculty in the Division of Health Sciences and Business Technology at Louisiana State University, Eunice.

Melora Wiley, M.D.

Dr. Melora Wiley, recently a developmental and behavioral pediatrics fellow at the Yale School of Medicine and Yale-New Haven Hospital, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics.

After receiving her B.S. in biomedical science and her B.S. in psychology magna cum laude from the SUNY University at Buffalo, New York, in 2008, Wiley earned her M.D. at New York Medical College, Valhalla, in 2013. She then had general pediatrics residency training at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Connecticut, from 2013-16 and development and behavioral pediatrics fellowship training at Yale from 2016-19.

The author or coauthor of three articles in peer-reviewed professional publications, Wiley has given three invited presentations at scientific meetings. Her research interests include quality improvement in pediatric care.

As a developmental and behavioral pediatrician, Wiley provides diagnostic evaluations for children 18 and under at the Center for Advancement of Youth and follow-up care at outreach centers across the state, including Biloxi, Grenada, Meridian and Tupelo.

June K. Winford, M.D.

Dr. June K. Winford, former medical director of the Doris Shaheen Breast Health Center in Atlanta, Georgia, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of radiology.

After receiving her B.S. in chemistry from Millsaps College in 2004, Winford earned her medical degree in 2008 at UMMC. She completed an internal medicine internship from 2008-09 and a radiology residency from 2009-13 at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center/Methodist in Memphis. She went on to complete a breast imaging fellowship from 2013-14 at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas.

Winford joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham faculty in 2014 as an assistant professor of radiology before becoming a breast imaging radiologist in 2015 at Radiology Associates of Atlanta, Georgia. There, she served as the medical director of the Doris Shaheen Breast Health Center from 2017-19.

Winford is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Breast Imaging, the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America and the Mississippi State Medical Association. She is also a coauthor of a peer-reviewed article published in the American Journal of Roentgenology. Her clinical interests include breast imaging and diagnostic radiology. Winford will serve as the fellowship director for the breast imaging fellowship at UMMC.
