Vascular, interventional radiology fellow joins UMMC faculty
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following addition to its faculty and leadership staff.
Jay Vasani, M.B.B.S.
Dr. Jay Vasani, recently a vascular and interventional radiology fellow, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of radiology.
After graduating from Mumbai University in 2005, Vasani obtained his M.B.B.S from KIMS University, Karad, India, in 2011. He finished a general surgery internship at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital, Pontiac, Michigan; a diagnostic radiology residency at St. Francis Hospital, Evanston, Illinois; and a vascular and interventional radiology fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, Florida.
Vasani enjoys all aspects of interventional radiology, but has a particular interest in prostate artery embolization – a novel minimally invasive treatment for BPH; minimally invasive treatment for acute pulmonary embolism; spine augmentation and spine tumor ablation; uterine fibroid embolization; minimally invasive treatments for cancer: chemo and radioembolization; and percutaneous microwave and cryoablation.
Vasani is coauthor of two articles in peer-reviewed publications and has four posters presented at scientific meetings internationally. His research interests include prostate artery embolization (comparing its efficacy with other minimally surgical options), bariatric embolization of left gastric artery and Geniculate artery embolization for osteoarthritis.
