Hospitalist; adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology, epidemiology of aging fellows; internal med chief resident join UMMC faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.

Sivaprasad Nalluri, M.D.

Dr. Sivaprasad Nalluri, a hospitalist at South Dayton Acute Care Consultants, Ohio, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.

After receiving his M.D. from Rangaraya Medical College, India, in 2007, he worked as a resident physician at different facilities in India before having internal medicine residency training at Interfaith Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York, from 2011-14. He then joined South Dayton Acute Care Consultants.

An active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the Society of Hospital Medicine and the American Medical Association, Nalluri has given several scientific and educational presentations.

 

Kevin J. Sullivan, Ph.D.

Dr. Kevin J. Sullivan, who recently completed a T32 postdoctoral fellowship in the epidemiology of aging at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Geriatrics.

After receiving his B.S. in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012, Sullivan earned his Ph.D. in psychological sciences at the University of Maine in 2017. He completed his M.P.H. in epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh in 2019.

The author or coauthor of eight papers published in peer-reviewed professional journals, Sullivan has given more than 20 presentations at national and local scientific meetings, workshops and seminars. He also has served as a guest reviewer for 10 different scientific journals.

An active member of the Gerontological Society of America, the Alzheimer’s Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment, and the American Heart Association’s Council on Epidemiology and Prevention, his research interests include aging and cognitive functioning, dementia, mild cognitive impairment, population neuroscience and biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease.

 

Syed Ali Akhtar Tirmizi, M.B.B.S.

Dr. Syed Ali Akhtar Tirmizi, chief internal medicine resident at Seton Hall University/St. Francis Medical Center, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.

After receiving his M.B.B.S. from King Edward Medical University, Pakistan, in 2014, Tirmizi served as a medical officer in Pakistan and had observerships at Swedish Medical Center, Denver, Colorado and at VA Medical Center, Oklahoma City, before starting his residency training at Seton Hall in 2016. He is the author or coauthor of five posters presented at scientific meetings at Seton Hall and ACP NJ meetings.

 

 

Caroline A. Walker, M.D.

Dr. Caroline A Walker, recently an adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellow at the Yale University School of Medicine, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of anesthesiology.

After receiving her B.A. in human biology from Stanford University, California, in 2008, Walker earned her M.S. in biomedical sciences at Tufts University, Boston, Massachusetts, in 2010 and her M.D. at the Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut, in 2014. She remained at Yale for her categorical anesthesiology residency from 2014-18 and her adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship from 2018-19. She also served as chief resident in anesthesiology there from 2017-18.

An active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Walker is the author of coauthor of six articles in peer-reviewed professional journals. Her research interests include independent predictors of acute kidney injury following thoracic surgery.
