Pediatric endocrinology fellow joins Medical Center faculty

Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following addition to its faculty and leadership staff.

Dr. Obiageli U. Obi, recently a pediatric endocrinology fellow at Baystate Medical Center/University of Massachusetts Medical School, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics.

After earning her M.B.B.S. at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in 2006, Obi served as a house physician/intern there from 2007-08 before moving to the U.S. She earned her M.P.H. in epidemiology at Boston University, Massachusetts, in 2010, then had pediatrics residency training at Brooklyn Hospital Center, New York, from 2014-17 and her pediatric endocrinology fellowship at Baystate in Springfield.

An active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Pediatric Endocrine Society, the Endocrine Society and the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes, Obi is the coauthor of a peer-reviewed published article, “Effect of Vitamin D Supplementation Alone or With Calcium on Adiposity Measures: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials,” and three poster presentations. She gave an invited presentation at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s fourth annual TypeOneNation Summit in Hartford, Connecticut. She is the recipient of the 2020 Human Growth Foundation Award.
