Hospitalist, anesthesiologist join UMMC faculty

The Medical Center is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Karthik Kovvuru, M.B.B.S.
Kovvuru
Dr. Karthik Kovvuru, recently a hospitalist at Greenwood Leflore Hospital, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.
After receiving his M.B.B.S. from Osmania Medical College, India, in 2007, Kovvuru had stints as a house officer at Sri Venkateshwara Nursing Home, India, and as an emergency room physician at Aditya Hospital, Hyderabad, India. He had internal medicine residency training from 2010-13 at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Maryland. He then joined Greenwood Leflore Hospital, where he has served as a hospitalist since 2013.
Kovvuru served as a member of multiple committees and participated in quality improvement projects aimed at "early mobilization in Intensive care Unit" and "COPD readmissions." He also has coauthored 13 posters presented at scientific meetings internationally. His interests include critical care and evidence-based medicine.
G. Kline Milner, M.D.
Milner
Dr. G. Kline Milner, an anesthesiologist in private practice in the metro area, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of anesthesiology.
After receiving his B.S. in biology from Mississippi College in 1975, Milner earned his M.D. at UMMC in 1978. He had an anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, from 1978-81.
Milner served as a staff anesthesiologist for the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Medical Center, Ohio, from 1981-85 before joining St. Joseph Anesthesiologists, Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has been in practice with a private anesthesia group since 1986 and served as chief of anesthesia for River Oaks Hospital from 2008-12.
An active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Mississippi Society of Anesthesiologists and the Mississippi State Medical Association, Milner has been a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology.
