Dr. Takeki Suzuki, a cardiac electrophysiologist trained at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.After earning the M.D. at the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine, Japan, in 2000, Suzuki earned the M.P.H. at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2007. Suzuki returned to Japan to earn his Ph.D. at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Medicine in 2011.Suzuki was a rotating intern at the Japanese National Physician Graduate Medical Educational Program, U.S. Naval Hospital, Okinawa, from 2000-01; an internal medicine resident at the University of Tokyo Hospital from 2001-02; an internal medicine resident at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University, New York, from 2002-05; a cardiology fellow at the University of Vermont and Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, from 2005-09; and a clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellow at Johns Hopkins from 2012-14.An active member of several professional organizations, including the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians and the Heart Rhythm Society, Suzuki has authored or coauthored 21 articles in peer-reviewed professional publications and has given 28 presentations internationally. His research interests include epidemiology of atrial fibrillation and sudden cardiac death and the role of imaging modalities and arrhythmia management.
Jenna Nassar, a speech language pathologist at Select Specialty Hospital, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an instructor in otolaryngology.After receiving the B.S. in speech and hearing science from the Mississippi University for Women in 2007, Nassar earned the M.S. in communicative disorders at Jackson State University in 2009. She then joined Select Specialty Hospital and served as an adjunct professor at JSU in 2011.Nassar has additional graduate clinical experience in the Jackson Public School System and at the Central Mississippi Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic.
