Lakshmi Narasimhulu Kurnutala, M.D.
Dr. Lakshmi Narasimhulu Kurnutala, a pain medicine fellow at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of anesthesiology.
After receiving the MBBS from the NTR University of Health Sciences/Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Tirupathi, India, in 2003, Kurnutala had residency training in anesthesiology at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, India, from 2004-06.
After serving as an attending/senior resident in the Department of Anesthesiology at the Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, in 2007 and as an attending physician in the Department of Anesthesiology at ASRAM Medical College and Hospital, Eluru, India, from 2007-09, Kurnutala came to the United States for residency training in anesthesiology from 2009-13 and an internship in general surgery from 2010-11 at New York Methodist Hospital/Weill Medical College, Cornell University, Brooklyn, New York, and was chief resident in anesthesiology there from 2012-13. Kurnutala also had a neuroanesthesia fellowship at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, in 2013 and a pain medicine fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in 2014.
The author or coauthor of 11 articles in peer-reviewed professional publications, Kurnutala is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the International Anesthesia Research Society and the Indian Society of Anesthesiologists. Kurnutala's special interests include neuroanesthesia, regional anesthesia and pain management.
