Alaina Herrington.Alaina R. Herrington, MSN, RN, CHSE-A, CNOR
Director

  • Alaina has been a nurse for over 15 years working in multiple areas such as perioperative nursing, nurse management, human resources, and nurse recruitment.

    She is the founding director for a stand-alone, 8,000-square-foot Simulation Center. Under her leadership, the center became the first in Mississippi to be accredited by the Society of Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) in Teaching and Learning.  She also was the founding director of the Mississippi Academy for Simulation Training, a statewide faculty development training program for simulation educators.

    She was selected as a National League for Nursing (NLN) 2015 Simulation Leader. She is a SSH Accreditation Site Reviewer and a Certified Healthcare in Simulation Educator-Advanced (CHSE-A) educator and reviewer. She is the vice chair of the SSH Director’s Special Interest Group and a member of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Nominations and Elections Committee. She has been successful in securing sustainability funds through grant writing, consulting, and hosting regional training workshops.

Standardized Patient Coordinator

  • Deborah joined the JGGCSC staff in October 2005, just after the program began at the Jackson Medical Mall. As a standardized patient coordinator, she is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the JGGCSC, which includes annual reporting, invoicing, and budgeting. Deborah also coordinates the recruitment and hiring process for standardized patients for JGGCSC. She is an expert at problem and operational management in CAE Healthcare Learning Space.

Standardized Patient Coordinator
  • Paula became part of the JGGCSC team in December 2004 as a standardized patient and took an administrative position in February 2007. As a standardized patient coordinator, she is involved in the daily operation of the center, leading standardized patient education, and creating multiple interprofessional educational activities. Paula is also the M3 course coordinator for the UMMC School of Medicine. She is an expert at operational management in CAE Healthcare Learning Space.
