Biography: Born and raised in Madison, MS, Dr. Mitchell Hobbs attended the University of Mississippi earning his undergraduate degree in English and returned to the Jackson area to pursue his medical degree at UMMC. Following medical school, he stayed at UMMC to complete his residency in general pediatrics. He joined the faculty in 2019 as a pediatric hospitalist. Working at Batson Children’s Hospital has allowed him the unique opportunity to serve patients across the full spectrum of general pediatrics, from the otherwise healthy local child with pneumonia to the sickest children from all corners of the state, all the while helping train the future clinicians of Mississippi. Professionally, his interests include infectious diseases, narrative medicine, mentorship, and medical student education, serving on the pediatric education team as assistant M4 clerkship director. Beyond medicine, some of his favorite things include his wife Lauren (also a pediatric hospitalist) and two children, running, reading, good food and drink, and playing trumpet and piano.
