Biography: Dr. Sabahat Afshan joined University of Mississippi Medical Center in September 2014 after completing fellowship in pediatric nephrology at University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN. She worked as a clinical fellow for a year and research fellow for two years. During that time, received grants from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital to work on a project to understand glomerular specificity and function of anti DNA antibodies in induction of glomerulonephritis in patients with SLE. Presented at American Society of Nephrology and Southern Regional Meeting.
She received medical education from Quad E Azam Medical College Bahawalpur-Pakistan and worked as a general practitioner before moving to North America. Dr. Afshan completed residency training in general pediatrics at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, Brooklyn, NY.
She is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric nephrology; member of American Society of Nephrology and American Society of Pediatric Nephrology.
