Biography: Dr. Williams completed his undergraduate degree at Millsaps College in 1998 and his Doctor of Medicine degree at UMMC in 2003. He completed family medicine residency training at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO from 2003-2006. After practicing family medicine for many years in community and academic settings, he began training in occupational & environmental medicine at the University of Colorado, completing residency and his MPH in 2014.

Dr. Williams was a faculty member with the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the Colorado School of Public Health, where most recently, he served as residency director in occupational & environmental medicine. He also co-developed and served as co-instructor for the International Travel & Health graduate course in the CSPH.

Dr. Williams has been a co-investigator on research and training grants including funding from the National Supplemental Screening Program for legacy workers of the Department of Energy. He completed the Primary Care Faculty Development Fellowship at Michigan State University in 2012. He earned his Certificate in Travel Medicine from the International Society of Travel Medicine in 2019. He has participated in medical mission trips to Peru, Nicaragua, and Macedonia.

Dr. Williams joined UMMC in 2022 as associate professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine. His interests include health literacy and health disparities, worker health promotion & protection, and travel medicine. He is married with 2 sons. He enjoys sports, photography, and travel.
