He returned to University of Mississippi Medical Center on Faculty and has been a leader in the Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology section in helping to grow the Mechanical Circulatory Support Program for which he serves as medical director and the heart transplant program. Due to the need for more physicians specializing in care of heart failure patients, he started the Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology fellowship program and has served as the program director since its inception. He has been primary investigator for multiple clinical trials in the heart failure space including both medication and device therapy trials. He is a husband and father of 4 children who enjoys spending time with family supporting his children in their activities and growth. Also enjoy basic woodworking in his free time.
My Approach to Healthcare
I enjoy teaching patients ways to improve their health, to quickly develop a trust to help them optimize their healthcare. Patients referred with Advanced Heart Failure are symptomatic and have many negative prognostic signs/lack of success with therapies. On a broader level, I do as much as I can to educate trainees and the community about HF and how to recognize it/prevent it and about therapies available. I enjoy outreach to communities and physicians throughout the state/region to develop relationships so that they know I am here to help.
