Biography: Tara Lewis is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she is the acting Medical Director of the OB/Gyn Emergency Department and Medical Director of Quality and Quality Council. Prior to Emergency Medicine, she worked for ten years in the academic and community setting as a Labor and Delivery nurse and has maintained a passion for women’s health and maternal care. She is fellowship trained in Emergency Ultrasound and serves as Core Content Expert for Obstetrics and Gynecology in Emergency Medicine. She has worked with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology to help develop their AIM Obstetric Emergency Readiness Resource Kit- a collection of best practices to aid in readiness efforts to appropriately care for people experiencing obstetric emergencies in non-obstetric settings. She is an educator for the STORK program, a grant funded research project developed in 2022 by the Mississippi Center for Emergency Services to teach emergency obstetric care to prehospital and rural emergency providers and staff using didactics and high fidelity simulation. She is actively engaged in resident mentorship and serves as Faculty Chair of the UMMC Emergency Medicine Wellness Committee. She lives with her three children in Madison, Mississippi.
