Biography: I stayed on at UMC after my training as I recognized the lack of access to quality cardiac care in this state. I was born in Mississippi, and the gross disparity of health care delivery, particularly in rural areas, deeply bothers me. Hopefully, my work in the catheterization lab and through the STEMI network will better deliver efficient, timely care to those patients.
The prevalence of adult congenital heart disease is about 1% of the population. In Mississippi, that equates to nearly 30,000 Mississippians with ACHD. My partner and I are the only two ACHD trained cardiologists in the state; UMC is the only facility with the tools to address this need effectively. It is our job to identify and treat these patients.

Quality healthcare is a right that should not depend on where you live or what you make. Our team has dedicated our professional careers providing this to our highly complex interventional and congenital heart patients in this traditionally underserved state.
