Biography: Amanda Brown, FNP-C, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Alabama in 2015. She joined the Department of Dermatology in 2015 working as a registered nurse with multiple practitioners with most of her duties resulting in her being the lead nurse in the Contact Dermatitis Clinic. She continued working part-time while obtaining her Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2018. With this degree in hand she was appointed to the team of providers and is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Since that time she has treated general dermatological diseases, but also has a special interest in Allergic Contact Dermatitis and works in the Patch Testing Clinic.
My Approach to Healthcare
I am a current member of The Society of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners, The Dermatology Nurses' Association, and The American Contact Dermatitis Society. I have served on the awards and scholarship committee and as a journal reviewer for Journal of the Dermatology Nurses' Association. In addition, I co-authored one of the chapters in a recent dermatology textbook edited by members of the UMMC Department of Dermatology. I also served on medical mission teams to North Africa and Haiti and received The Barco's Nightingales Foundation Award for Nursing Excellence for my service in Haiti. Currently, I serve on the Advanced Practice Providers Committee at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
