Student Organizations
The University of Mississippi Medical Center is a campus where students like to get involved, be leaders, raise the bar, and make a difference. We've got a student organization for you! Find UMMC student organizations that fit your interests. Look for groups that focus on what interests you personally, academically, or professionally.
General student organizations
The Office of Student Affairs proudly sponsors campus student organizations where all students can engage with their peers across disciplines or schools, and provide opportunities to significantly enrich a student’s educational journey and open doors to future career opportunities.
Some general student organizations include:
- Associated Student Body (ASB), UMMC's student government
- Involvement and Intramurals
- The Medic, UMMC's yearbook
- The Murmur, UMMC's student publication
- Student Life
- Student Alumni Representatives (STARS), Development and Alumni Engagement
- Student Liaison Advisory Council (SLAC), Interprofessional Education
School-specific organizations
Discipline- or School-specific organizations and interest groups play a vital role in enhancing students' academic and professional experiences by providing opportunities for collaboration, networking, and hands-on learning within their fields of study. These organizations often host workshops, guest lectures, and events that deepen students' understanding of their respective disciplines while fostering a sense of community among peers who share similar interests.
To learn more about the various organizations and interest groups available, students are encouraged to connect with their school’s administration, which can provide valuable resources and guidance on getting involved.
Sales, solicitations, and fundraising for student organizations
Members of UMMC student organizations who want to host a sales, solicitation, or fundraising event or activity (e.g., canned food drive, food sales, t-shirt sales) must follow the UMMC Student Sales, Solicitation, and Fundraising policy. Please read the policy for complete details regarding approved SSF activities and the request for approval process.
Student organization leaders must complete the Student Sales, Solicitations, and Fundraising (SSF) Activity Request Form (available on the UMMC Intranet) to initiate the request for approval process. Students should not advertise or execute an SSF event or activity until they receive approval notification.
