SACSCOC Accreditation

As the academic health sciences campus of the University of Mississippi, the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) functions as a separately accredited, semi-autonomous unit responsible to the chancellor of the university and through the chancellor to the constitutional Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Contact the Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Ga. 30033-4097 or call (404) 679-4500 for questions about the accreditation of the UMMC.

For academic questions about UMMC, call (601) 984-5009. This includes questions such as admission requirements, financial aid, and educational programs.

SACSCOC accredits the entire campus. Click here to access UMMC's most recent reaffirmation letter.

UMMC academic programs with specialized accreditation are accredited by those agencies. Click here for program-specific accreditation information.

The accreditation process is a chance for UMMC to review current practices and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, the accreditation process is an opportunity for UMMC to highlight the exceptional students, faculty, staff, and programs that are the heart of UMMC.
