Description:

Dr. Gwen Windham, professor of Geriatric Medicine in the Division of Geriatrics and Internal Medicine and director of the Neuroepidemiology Research Core at The MIND Center, will give the Mind Matters Community Education Series presentation "Connect, Don’t Correct: Communication Strategies for Persons with Alzheimer's and Dementia," on Thursday, Aug. 31 online via Zoom.

Communicating with persons living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias can be challenging as the disease progresses – especially when behaviors seem out of character to the individual. This workshop will be a discussion of practical ways to connect with a person with memory loss and cognitive impairment and reframe behavioral reactions and responses. This program may be appropriate for in-home caregivers as well as professional direct care staff.

This is a virtual event through Zoom. Registration is required
