Health care leaders from all levels will be celebrating World Hand Hygiene Day at entrances and elevator lobbies throughout the hospital from 6:15 - 8 a.m. to review hand hygiene expectations and message the importance of hand hygiene.

The scientific evidence overwhelmingly demonstrates that appropriate hand hygiene is the single most effective action to stop the spread of infection. Appropriate hand hygiene prevents up to 50% of avoidable infections acquired during health care delivery, including those affecting the health workforce.
