Once a patient in the state’s only children’s hospital, Abby McCardle is now a nurse there, giving her insight into care and a special relationship with colleagues who were once her nurses.

For one month, five medical students selected for their interest, background and abilities explored cancer care at the Medical Center, in a pursuit that, for them, was every bit as personal as it was professional.

Protection from COVID-19 is now available for children ages 6 months to 4 years old at Children’s of Mississippi’s Batson Kids Clinic at 421 S. Stadium Drive. Research has shown the vaccines to dramatically lower chances of COVID-19-related hospitalization in older children.

Rubie Frazier supervises dental assistants in the School of Dentistry’s clinic at the Jackson Medical Mall, making sure that staffing is in place and patients are getting timely care. Not just patients, but her work family are priorities with Frazier as she prepares to begin her 11th year with the SOD.

Medical Center faculty and staff often are recognized regionally, nationally and internationally for their academic or medical achievements. These accolades place UMMC among health science centers worldwide.
