The host organization of the Sanderson Farms Championship announced a $1.5 million gift to Friends of Children’s Hospital from proceeds of the PGA TOUR event. Topping the $1.45 million gift made last year, the gift will go toward the Campaign for Children’s of Mississippi, the philanthropic drive that made the Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower possible.

It takes a village of caregivers - among them hepatologists, transplant coordinators, nurses, pharmacists, primary care providers and the OR team - to keep liver transplant recipients healthy before and after their surgery. UMMC's liver transplant program is being recognized nationally for the care that results in high rates of patient survival and a quick road to getting their new organ.

A Children's Heart Center patient at Children's of Mississippi, Nolee will represent the state's only children's hospital, its patients and their families this year. The 8-year-old honor roll student is healthy today thanks to heart surgery and checkups with her cardiologist, Dr. Onyekachukwu Osakwe.
