Good morning!

In last week’s VC Notes, I talked about the merits of taking a break from work sometime this summer for a little R&R in whatever method that works best for you. Today, I want to recognize our long-time UMMC employees who have retired after 25 years or more of continuous service to the Medical Center, or they will before the end of this month. For many in this group, they are taking the ultimate break – and well deserved!

Even as excited as we may be for a coworker who is taking a step into their next adventure, it can be hard to say goodbye to colleagues with whom we’ve formed a work bond. Also, there’s an institutional impact felt in losing this much experience.

The 62 retirees listed below who have been with us for 25+ straight years represent more than 1,780 years of UMMC service. Wow. That’s nearly two millenia of institutional experience, Medical Center stories and professional and personal bonds.

As we prepare to welcome the influx of new residents/fellows, faculty and staff that we routinely see each July, it’s important that we recognize the leaders, trailblazers, innovators and friends listed below who each, in at least one way, made an impact on our effort to reach A Healthier Mississippi.
