All For (Their) Health

Good morning!

Today’s column includes an exciting premiere that I’m so happy to show you.

A little set up first.

What you do here is amazing. Every person here plays a vital role in carrying out and building upon our three mission areas of excellent patient care, groundbreaking research and transformative health science education. To see the biggest impact of our collective efforts, look at the many areas where two or more of these mission areas overlap. Those instances – and there are lots of them – are truly where academic medical centers prove their value.

I’m always happy to share with anyone who will listen about how we are progressing toward our ultimate goal of A Healthier Mississippi. It’s easy to talk about the positive impact of your work.

But, it’s just not enough for me and other UMMC leaders to talk about what we do here. We need to go bigger, broader and louder! We have an amazing message to share, and I believe every Mississippian should hear it. Everything being done under the UMMC name, from degree programs, to clinical service lines to groundbreaking research, is all for one thing – the health of the people we serve.

VC_Nov_11_ad.jpgBeginning the middle of next week, when you log in to your social media accounts, browse some of your regular internet sites or watch local news or sport programming, you may see something exciting – a new UMMC marketing campaign, All for Your Health

This overarching brand campaign – our first since 2013 - is intended to better inform people all across the state about the UMMC name and what we do as an academic medical center. It will focus on all three of our mission areas and feature actual UMMC patients, providers, researchers, faculty, staff and students. I can’t wait to shine a light on the life-changing work you do here.

While the campaign is mostly focused toward the public, as a way to officially kick it off, I have the video linked below that was written and produced with you in mind. The two campaign commercials will start running statewide next week along with the other print and digital elements, but this video is directed at our internal community. When we tell people that what we do is All for Your Health, it starts with you – the UMMC family.

To see the first thirty-second commercial that will run on TVs and streaming devices, visit the campaign’s website at umc.edu/YourHealth.

Thank you for being #UMMCStrong and always being willing to step up to any challenge that will help us on the journey toward A Healthier Mississippi.

Signed, Lou Ann Woodward, M.D.
