Low HPV vaccination rates in Mississippi, coupled with a rise in head and neck cancer cases, sparked interprofessional collaboration between two schools at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the Mississippi State Department of Health.

“What Became of Dr. Smith,” an upcoming exhibition at the Mississippi Museum of Art, is an invitation to discover the story of artist Noah Saterstrom’s late ancestor, who was a patient at the Mississippi State Hospital for the Insane. The staging of this visual narrative, a panoramic series of interconnected paintings, also links the museum with the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s Asylum Hill Project.

Friends of Children’s Hospital’s krewe brought a Mardi Gras parade to Children’s of Mississippi patients Tuesday. The next morning, members of the Mississippi National Guard served a sweet Valentine’s Day brunch to children’s hospital patients and their families.
