Too often, Mississippians in dental pain don't have access to care or the money to pay for it. The Jackson Free Clinic offers that treatment, but has only two dental chairs. Thanks to generous donors, the clinic has renovated an adjacent building to eventually house six dental chairs, substantially increasing the number of people who can get the swift relief they need.

R. J. Stewart was doing what lots of new high school graduates do: getting a job and enjoying young adulthood. When he suddenly became ill, his family was shocked to discover his heart was failing. One year after receiving a heart transplant at the Medical Center, Stewart is poised to continue pursuing his dreams.

The Mississippi Miracles Radiothon will turn 20 years old by celebrating pediatric patients’ inspiring stories inside the new Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower at Children’s of Mississippi. Through the years, the event has raised more than $6.7 million to benefit the state’s only children’s hospital.

As the COVID-19 pandemic stretches into another calendar year, UMMC experts said they hope the end is starting to come into sight. Sticking with public health guidance – including receiving vaccinations – will help get there and avoid more spikes in cases, hospitalizations and deaths.
